• Is Pink Hair Still In This Summer?

Dames! Pink hair for summer yes please!! Rose Gold, blorange, baby pink, red pink, purple pink, melting into pink, you name it , its cool and in for summer. I myself just did a rendition of rose gold color and I’m obsessed! I never want to wash my hair! You can do it to. If you already have blonde highlights and you just want it for a few days, its so easy to do for a quickie look.  It will wash out (don’t use punky color).  Take any manic panic color that you like, mix it with white conditioner and put it on your hair when its wet, comb it through and leave for 10 min.

***Quick Tip** When you mix the pink with the conditioner, whatever color you see in the bowl will be the color in your hair.

    Have fun Dames this summer!

  • Three 5 Minute Hairstyles that Take You From Work To Glam Night Out

Hi Dames! Its summa summer time and we all want to be ready to go out right after work.  Especially in NYC or your cities. Here’s a few tips and styles that will take you to the rooftop lounge looking like a showstopper!

    1. Have your HairClutch in your desk ready to go with hair extensions prepped and ready for the clock out.
    2. Have a beach spray or texture spray and dry shampoo on hand. I favor the travel size sprays for this reason.
    3. Have your THD Hair Tie ready to wrap around your bun or pony to floss it up and a boar bristle brush.

Here’s some examples of regular work looks turned glam in literally 5 min.

Left is a quick top knot you would wear to work,  right is a 5 minute spruce up for glam look. Use some clip on bangs and a hair tie to glam it up!

To the left is a quick regular braid you would show up to work in. To the right is a glam fishtail with the few extensions already prepped in your HairClutch -you pop them in 2 seconds later to make your braid a little more glammy.

Left is a regular pony for work. To the right is a glam pony created with hair extensions. Remember, you can already have your hair prepped with waves in your HairClutch. before work. Wrap a Hair Tie around your pony and bam, glam.

Your friends won’t know how your pulled it off so quickly but I won’t tell! Let me know how you do Dames! Tag me on ig in your after work happy hour glam looks! @thehairdame

  • Hair Masks: Must Haves For Summer!

Hi Dames! I get a lot of people asking me about hair masks, especially in the summer. The sun, pool, and ocean can dry out hair.  Having a good hair mask to use once a week is important. Masks have different benefits for different reasons- some are for moisture, some are protein, and some are both. If you are blonde, blondish, or have any blonde in your hair whatsoever, you most likely will need a little protein as well as moisture. If you have extensions, I would say the same. If you are brunette or red head (or any darker shade) a simple moisture mask will do the trick. The thing about cheaper products vs more expensive products is the quality of ingredients they use most of the time, sometimes you are just paying for the name.  However for example: Oribe, they have spent millions of dollars creating proprietary ingredients. Brands that are owned by Loreal, well chances are they have some rendition of Loreal ingredients. Look at the ingredient list in the back of the bottle. If there’s ingredients that you know are cheaper like coconut oil, castor oil, avocado oil, you shouldn’t be breaking the bank. Below are some of my favorites!

I’m obsessed with this brand Hask. Sulfate free, paraben free, milk from the God’s for your hair.

If you have damaged hair, Olaplex is a must . Once a week will change your hair life. You can add a dab to your moisture mask for extra protein if you just want to maintain the protein health of your hair.

Moroccan Oil was the first brand to bring us Argan Oil. Its a no brainer. I love this product

Well, Dames keep your sunnies on and your hair soft this summer!

  • Hair Bracelets: Why You Want Them, Where to Get Them

HI Dames, hair bracelets?  I love the way a rubber band looks on my wrist.. said no one ever. Recently, when I was in Tokyo I stumbled across the cutest charm store. You could make your own bracelets, necklaces, and turn rubber bands into bracelets with charms.  I bought one, come to find out at checkout, the brand is actually from Brooklyn, NY ! I was so excited to share this with every Dame I know so you don’t have to downgrade your wrist this summer in between hairstyles during the day.

There are other versions of this concept. Below are a couple I favor that are easily accessible.

Etsy Also has some really cool versions, that you put your rubber bands on the bracelet , so it doesn’t look like a rubber band .

These are called Duelette’s on Chillyjilly.com. They come in different colors so you can layer them in your hair. When they are on your wrist they look like bangles. So cute! Enjoy

  • How To Enhance Natural Waves With Blowdryers And Diffusers

Hi Dames! Summer is the time for natural texture. Its hot, its humid, and blowouts seem tedious. If you want natural texture and still want a fresh finished look a diffuser is the way to go. Diffusers push the moisture back into your hair like a humidifier does with the hair, so it doesn’t dehydrate your curl, it does the opposite. Use your favorite styling cream mixed with a little gel, and lather if from root to end on your hair in a generous amount. Put the blow dryer on medium to low force with high heat and go section by section layering your hair into the diffuser. When its all dry if you want to take a curling iron about 1″ to smooth out any frizzies, you can take large sections around the top and wrap them around the iron. This gives it a finished look. Below are my 2 favorite blow dryers. Trust me, the diffuser will be your best friend this summer!

    Harry Josh Blowdryer-

    Dyson Blowdryer-

Let me know how it goes, you can leave any questions below. Never fear this summer- The Hair Dame is here to help!

  • Hair Curling 101: Horizontal vs Vertical Waves

Hi Dames! What the heck is a vertical wave or horizontal wave? I’ll tell you- lots of women ask me how to achieve the super glam waves celebs sport on the red carpet or how to achieve the perfect beach wave all year round. The answer is knowing which direction to hold your iron. Check out the how to do video below.

    the hair dame glam waves

Horizontal waves create a very glam style best for evening look. Hold your iron so the barrel is pointing horizontal.

    thehair dame beach waves

Vertical waves create a day time, summer, casual style. Hold your iron pointing downward.

Let me know how it works out for you!
